Night Series Synopsis: Following the opening of a major SGC memorial, Daniel struggles with his dual identity as the Man in Black and 

risks his life to shed that alter-ego.

This fic was Michael Shanks’ idea. It came out as his answer to a simple question about Daniel, and the fans enjoyed it so much it became a performance that he does at conventions. He liked the idea so much he asked for it to be immortalized in fanfic. I took the bait… though I have yet to see The Shanks do this schtick. He probably thinks it’s funny. I took it seriously. 

As a gesture of gratitude for his sensitive and well-crafted performances of the character of Daniel Jackson, I dedicate this 

story to him. Bravo, Michael. Ask, and it shall be given you. ;-) But I’m not doing the cross-dressing aromatherapist 

story, because it’s already been done.

Any remaining errors are my own stubborn fault.

Synopsis: A bird in the hand is worth a flock in the tree, and Sam must face the repercussions of her choices.

WARNINGS:  This story is NOT for Sam/Jack shippers! Please note the first entry in the category listing is ANTI-SHIP.  I mean that!!! If you’re a shipper, and you read it anyway, please don’t send me hate mail, because I didn’t write this story for you, and you have been warned.  I’m not sure who I DID write it for, but it’s not for shippers; hence, the anti-ship warning.

Author’s Notes: I thought this was an interesting look at being careful what you wish for, through the eyes of Samantha Carter.  I used to love her character, but the show’s writers have turned her into a hopeless, powerless Mary Sue beyond all Mary Sues, and I thought I’d put a more realistic spin on the Sam Carter they’ve given us, along with the Sam/Jack relationship.

The *men* who write for SG-1 don't have a clue what romance writing is all about; just their wet-dream fantasies of Amanda Tapping/Sam Carter. (If they want romance, they need to get a woman on the writing staff.) More than anything else, however, the writers need to grow up and give all the characters equal respect. As long as any one is favored over the others, they can't do justice to the team. They obviously don't like Shanks and consequently give his character short shrift. They also don't know what to do with Teal'c, so only Chris Judge can handle him correctly. That's just sad, and shows a distinct lack of professionalism and care for the craft of writing, in this writer's not-so-humble opinion.

There could be an epic sequel brewing for this story.  I hope not, but I never know where my Muse will take me with each 
successive story, and this one wouldn’t leave me alone until it got written.

Author's Notes: Jude doesn't do het, but she did for me. I thank her hugely for that, because I can't do this right without her. As to the story, there are some that just demand to be told, whether they're my usual thing or not. Hopefully, this shows I can do M/F romance. I don't have any objections to het and J/D are still my OTP, but I like Vala and can buy the chemistry between her and Daniel (just not S/J).
