Other slashy stuff (just because I think it's hot):
Brokeback Mountain is a love story. It is beautiful and tragic, not so much because the lovers are star-crossed, but because they are two men whom society will not accept as a committed couple. The original story, written by E. Annie Proulx, was recently made into a movie directed by Ang Lee, starring Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaall, scripted by Larry MacMurtry and Dianna Osanna. This film couldn't have a better pedigree, and I truly hope that the more people see it, the more minds will be opened to the fact that same-sex couples should have the right to be together and love each other without fearing for their lives. This movie, this book, this story are very clear on that subject -- what might have been an awe-inspiring story of true love becomes a tragedy, for the lovers are kept apart by convention, hatred and ignorance.
Rating: G Pairing: Jack/Ennis
Synopsis: Ennis returns to Lightning Flats, holding onto his last link with Jack: his mother, who understands much more than Ennis knew.
WARNINGS: Character death (this story follows what I think might have happened to Ennis after Jack died).
Author’s Notes: I fell in love with theisstory after I read it, and was moved to fic after seeing it. Think of this as an epilogue to the story, one I couldn't help putting down.
Disclaimer: I don't own Jack and Ennis, haven't made any money off 'em and wouldn't if I could, because they belong to Annie. We just love 'em because she did.
